Gionee announces M5 Plus and M5 Enjoy featuring massive battery and Fingerprint sensor

The two new members are making their debut to its Marathon range of phones mainly known for their astonishing batteries. The Gionee has introduced Marathon M5 Plus and Marathon M5 Enjoy at an event in China and will go on sale starting 25th December 2015. The Marathon devices specifically target at a certain niche of buyers. Both the Smartphones are first to equip manual home buttons and both comes with Fingerprint sensor which Gionee claims can unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds. The Gionee M5 enjoy and M5 Plus comes in Gold and Silver colors and priced at 1999 Yuan (20566) and 2499 Yuan (Rs. 25595) respectively.

Gionee Marathon M5 Enjoy:

Similar to the previous Marathon devices, the M5 enjoy also comes with humungous battery of 5000mah promises 52 hours of talk time and 775 hours of standby time. The device has a decent 5.5 inch HD IPS display with 2.5D arc class and it is powered by a 1.3GHz Quad core Mediatek 64-bit processor backed by Mali T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

There is 16GB of internal memory in board which is further expandable up to 128GB using a Micro SD card. For imaging, M5 Enjoy features an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording and it also offers 5MP front snapper for video recording and Selfies. It runs on Android Lollipop 5.1 wrapped under Amigo 3.1UI on top. In terms of connectivity, it includes Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, dual-SIM slots, 4G LTE support, GPS, USB OTG, GPS and bluetooth 4.0. The device is on heavier side as it weighs 200 grams thanks to metal body and large battery.

Gionee Marathon M5 Plus:

Alongside M5 enjoy, Gionee also revealed another device called M5 plus that comes with bigger display. It sports a Phablet grade 6 inch full HD AMOLED display enhanced by 2.5D arc glass, 1920×1080 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla glass protection. The bigger version of the lot is powered by the same Octa core Mediatek MT6753 processor paired with meaty 3GB RAM and Mali T720GPU.

The handset sports 64GB of on-board storage and if you think it’s not enough then you can further expand it up to 128GB using a Micro SD card. M5 enjoy bears better camera units of 13MP at rear and 5MP at front. A 5020mah battery with dual charging chips completes the package and it promises to get fully charged in less than 120 minutes. Apart from type-C connector for fast charging, the device comes with similar connectivity options as M5 enjoy. On software front, it too runs of Android Lollipop 5.1 out of the box with company own Amigo UI on top.  There is no news about either of the devices making its way to Indian shores soon.
