After being listed on the global website for a month or so, Gionee’s affordable device P5W has been launched in India. Priced at Rs. 6499, the device is available with range of colors including red, yellow, blue, black and white. It also comes with DTS powered speakers for good quality audio experience.

Gionee P5W flaunts a 5inch HD IPS Onecell display and backed by a 1.3GHz Quad Core Mediatek MT6735 processor aided by Mali-T720GPU. It comes with 16GB of on-board storage which is further expandable up to 128GB using a Micro SD card. A user will get stock Android experience as it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

As far as camera goes, it is equipped with 5MP rear camera with LED flash and supporting features such as face beauty, HDR, Pic note, Filter, Panorama and Geo tagging. There is also a 2MP front facing camera on board. The highlighting feature on the device includes an AMI lock aka face unlock feature which can scan your face and unlock the device with half a second.

The handset measures 143.3X72X8.9mm and weighs 153 grams. It is fueled by a 2000mah battery which claims to deliver 10 hours of talktime and 288 hours of standby time n 3G networks. In terms of connectivity, it offers 3G HSPA+, bluetooth 4.0 with AD2P, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, GPS, USB OTG and Wi-Fi hotspot.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Timir Baran Acharyya, GM, Gionee India, said, “The idea behind introducing P5W has been the youth and their fascination towards carrying bright colorful phones. P5W comes in exciting color ranges from white, blue, red, yellow and black etc. The look and the feel of carrying the device have been thoroughly thought after. Aiming specifically at the youth of the country, we are sure that the device would gauge tremendous interest as like its predecessors”.
