Just In: Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro launched

Xiaomi finally launched its most awaited smartphones Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Remi Note 5 Pro in India on 14th February. With it, the company also came up with Mi TV 4 series in the country. Both the smartphones share similar specifications with some major differences and here we bring them for you. For its launch offers, the smartphones come with an ultra-slim case bundled and Jio offers a cashback of 2,200 INR with 100 percent additional data on buying any of the two devices. Specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the Indian variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus that was launched in China last December. The Note 5 runs on MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat OS. The phone sports a 5.99-inch full-HD (1080×2160 pixels) display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, 450-nit brightness and gorilla glass protection. The device is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The phone gets a fingerprint sensor on its rear panel. The connectivity options for the Redmi Note 5 include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB options. The phone measures 158.5×75.45×8.05 mm and weighs 180 grams.

Redmi Note 5 Pro

Coming to the Redmi Note 5 Pro specifications, it runs on the same MIUI 9 based on Android Nougat OS. It has the same display as the Note 5 but for the processor, the Pro is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 636 SoC, clocked at 1.8GHz, and is coupled to Adreno 509 GPU. This device by Redmi is claimed to be the first one with the Snapdragon 636 SoC and with an AnTuTu score of 109,692. The phone also has a fingerprint sensor on its rear panel. The connectivity options of the Redmi Note 5 Pro includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB facility. The Pro measures 158.6×75.4×8.05mm and weighs 181 grams.

Camera

The Note 5 sports a 12-MP primary camera with an aperture of f/2.2, PDAF and an LED flash module. For the front, it has a 5-MP front-facing shooter with 3.0 beautification tech. The 5 Pro gets a dual camera setup that is a 12-MP primary camera and a 5-MP secondary camera that is also accompanied by an LED flash module. For the front, it bears a 20-MP shooter with an LED selfie-light and 4.0 beautification tech.

Battery

The Redmi Note 5 comes powered by a 4000 mAh battery, with 5V/2A fast charging. The 5 Pro too has the same.

Storage

The Redmi Note 5 is available in two storage variants that are 32GB and 64GB and both of these are expandable by micro SD card in a hybrid dual-SIM format.
The Note 5 Pro comes in both 4GB and 6GB RAM versions with single storage variant that is 64GB which can be further expanded with micro SD card.

Colors

Colour options for both the phones are Black, Gold, Lake Blue, and Rose Gold.

Price

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 price starts at 9,999 INR for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant, while 11,999 INR for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage variant.
For the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the price starts at 13,999 INR for the 4GB RAM with 64GB storage version, and this goes up to 16,999 INR for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage one.

How to purchase

Both the Redmi smartphones will be available exclusively via Flipkart in the country as well as from the Mi.com and Mi Home Retail Stores. The phones will go on sale from February 22, 12 pm onwards.
