Xiaomi Mi5 set to launch in India on 31st March 2016

During the launch of Redmi Note 3, Xiaomi has promised that Mi5 will be launched in India within a month and having said that, Xiaomi is now sending press invites for the event to be held on 31st March 2016. The Mi5 was initially announced at the Mobile world congress 2016 last month and it is already launched in its home turf China. The Hugo Barra had just revealed that Mi5 received over 16 million registrations in China which shows its worth.

According to reports, Xiaomi Mi5 will be priced in the range of 20,000- 27,000 INR. India is one of the first markets to get Mi5 outside China and it packs with 5.15 inch full HD display with 3D Curved ceramic glass, 1920*1080 pixels resolution and 600 nits’ brightness. Underneath is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with Adreno 530 GPU.

In China it is available in three versions- first is 3GB RAM, 32GB memory version priced at Rs. CNY 1999 (approx 19,000), prime version with 3GB RAM and 64GB storage for CNY 2299 (approx 24,000INR) and last but not the least Pro variant carrying 4GB RAM with 128GB of memory at CNY 2699 (approx 28,000INR). It is not confirmed if the company will all launch all the three variants in India or not.

On the camera front, it features a 16 Megapixel rear camera with dual tone LED flash, PDAF, 4 axis OIS, Sony IMX298 sensor and 4K video recording. It also boasts of 4 Megapixel of ultra pixel front camera with 2um pixel size, 80 degree wide angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. The Dual Sim phone runs on Android Marshmallow with MIUI 7 on top.

The Mi5 is just 7.25mm thick and weighs just 125 grams. The Smartphone packs in with 4G LTE with VoLTE, GPS, NFC, bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual band (MIMO), USB type C port and GLONASS as connectivity options. It is backed by a 3000mah battery with Quick charge 3.0 technology which is said to be 30% faster than the version 2.0.
