Microsoft Lumia 550 with Windows 10, 4G LTE launched in India at Rs. 9399

After its official reveal in October this year alongside Lumia 950 and 950XL, Microsoft has introduced Lumia 550 in India. Priced at Rs. 9399, the device will go on sale from 23 December 2015 in Matte black and glossy white color variants. It runs on Windows 10 which makes it the most affordable offering that runs the latest version of windows though will not support the Continuum feature like its premium siblings.

It features a 4.7-inch HD display with 720×1280 pixels resolution and pixel density of 315ppi. It is backed by a mediocre 1.1GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 SoC flanked by Adreno 304 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

For memory, it has 8GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable up to 2TB via a micro SD card. The single Micro-SIM device comes equipped with a 5MP auto focus rear camera with LED flash, touch focus, geo tagging f/2.4 aperture and 720p video recording capability. At front, it gets 2MP front snapper with f/2.8 aperture.

Lumia 550 is fuelled by a 2100mAh battery which according to company can deliver up to 14 hours of talktime on 3G, 17 hours of talktime on 4G and 28 days of standby time. It bears ambient light sensor, accelerometer and proximity sensors. The handset weighs 141.9 grams and measures 136.1×67.8×9.9mm.  Besides 4G LTE (Cat. 4) support, it includes 3G HSPA+, bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS/aGPS and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, Micro USB and FM Radio as other connectivity tools. Microsoft Lumia 550 is certainly an overpriced device as there are powerful rivals available in the market with lesser price.
