Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ with Infinity Display, Bixby Virtual Assistant launched

Ending weeks of rumours and Speculations, Samsung has finally launched its new Flagships series in India- the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. Both the Smartphones are available for pre-order now and goes on sale starting on April 21. The duos come in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver and Maple Gold coloursThe Flagships will be up for pre-order via Flipkart and Samsung authorised shops from today onwards and will go sale from May 5th, 2017. Those who pre-book the Smartphone will get a free convertible wireless charger while all S8 and S8+ users will get double data offer on the Jio recharge.

With new Flagships, Samsung’ repo is on the line as it not only need to overcome the fiasco of Note 7 but also need to compete with Google pixel range and Apple iPhone 2017 for the best Smartphone title. Samsung is willing to win customer’s heart again with supreme quality and reliable flagship S8 and S8+. Samsung currently holds the crown of the Smartphone with Galaxy S7 so it will be interesting to see if Korean giant can able to continue to reign same with S8 duos.

One of the biggest highlights is Samsung’s Bixby assistant which takes on Google assistant, Amazon’s Alexa, Microsoft Cortana and Apple’s Siri. Its AI lets you make the range of functions including app launch, searching and it can interpret your natural language rather than manual phrases.

Another major change is their design language- the Bezel-less display with an excellent screen to body ratio and absence of home button up front. The home button is now placed underneath the display while fingerprint sensor has been moved alongside the rear camera unit. There are several other changes like introduction of facial recognition function, IRIS scanner, USB Type- C and enhanced IP68 ratings.

Coming to the specs, Galaxy S8 sports a 5.8-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 2960*1440 pixels and 570ppi of pixel density while S8+ flaunts bigger 6.2-inch QHD Super AMOLED display and 529ppi pixel density. Both are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Samsung also claims that the Smartphones are the first to be certified by UHD alliance for Mobile HDR premium.

Both will come powered by new Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor in the US while for India and other International markets it will get Exynos 8895 processor. Clubbed with either 4GB or 6GB RAM both Smartphones have 64GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB using a Micro SD card.

In the Era of dual Camera set up, S8 duos come with a 12 Megapixel rear camera with dual pixel technology, LED flash, OIS and f/1.7 aperture. An 8MP autofocus front facing the camera with f/1.7 aperture, 1.22µm pixel size, 80-degree wide-angle lens takes care of the Selfie and Video calling segment. Sensors include an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, heart rate sensor, magnetometer, ambient light, proximity and gyroscope. Connectivity options on board are Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4GHz, 5GHz), 4G LTE (Cat. 16), bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and USB Type-C.

Galaxy S8 is powered by a 3000mah battery while S8+ 3500mah battery with both supports fast charging on wired and wireless charging. On the software front, both run Android 7.1 Nougat with its Samsung Custom UI. The Galaxy S8 measures 148.9×68.1x8mm and weighs 155 grams while the bigger sibling S8+ measures 159.5×73.4×8.1mm and weigh 173 grams.
